Abstract

Introduction: the aim of this article is to describe the intervention in a preterm child with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy and examine the factors that could have influenced the evolution. Case presentation: it is basically focused on the physiotherapy intervention done in an Early Child Development and Care Centre (ECDCC). After a year and a half of treatment, the intervention was reconsidered from the area of Physiotherapy, based on the methodology proposed by Le Métayer. It describes the reassessment of his functional capacity and needs (neuromotor examination), the objectives and motor education program created (levels of motor development and orthopedic prevention) and subsequent valuation for the functional independence achieved and the factors that could have influenced. Conclusions: in conclusion we can say that in this study is difficult to determine to what extent such factors as the characteristics and level of involvement of the family, the age in which the intervention was started, how the coordination between the ECDCC and the professionals belonging to other institutions was done and the technique used in the assessment of functional capacity and their needs, conditioned the evolution of the case. Whereas they are all important factors to consider in order to make a good program for global intervention.
