Abstract

Background: teaching materials have the role of facilitating the teaching-learning process. Thus, they should arouse students' interest. Purposes: first, to know the opinion of third and fourth-year Physiotherapy students about their satisfaction with the teaching materials provided by lecturers and to determine whether there are any differences between students by study year. Second, to study the survey's reliability by its internal consistency and the floor and ceiling effects. Material and method: a prospective study was carried out. One hundred sixty-eight students of the Physiotherapy Degree of the University of Valencia participated. A 32-item questionnaire was developed. A descriptive study of the questionnaire and a comparative analysis of students’ responses by study year were performed. Results: the lecturer´s presentation was rated the most satisfying teaching material (appropria-teness of providing lecturer´s presentation (94 %), since it helped them to improve their learning process (94 %)).
cientific papers were better scored by forth-year students. This material resulted in statistically significant diffe-rences between groups when it was assessed in regard to improving learning (U = 2828.5, p = 0.016) and helping in content understanding (U = 2881.5, p = 0.030). Total reliability of the scale was good (α = 0.824). Conclusions:
he most satisfying teaching material among students was lecturer´s presentation. Main difference between third and fourth-year pre-graduates is their satisfaction with the use of scientific publications as educational materials.
The surveys used has good internal consistency, no floor effect, but a ceiling effect was observed that has to be considered for future work.
