Abstract

This article reflects on the case posed by a third-year student: during her clinical training, she wor¬
ed with a patient who, while necessitating physiotherapy, was less interested in recovering health than in enjoying extended sickness leave benefits. The author highlights the importance of the physiotherapist in detecting these persons who abuse the help of the system and provides the professional with several ethical and legal reasons why the situation should not be tolerated. The article ends with some guidelines on how to solve this problem.
