Apraxias and alterations of gesture and the hemiplegic

Apraxias and the loss of evocation and development of the gesture are one of the most important problems in the reeducation of the stroke patient. The rehabilitation of upper functions only can be carried out if the causes of the dysfunctions are known; so a treatment plan according to these neuropsychological alterations can be designed.
It is necessary to know with precision which aspect we must re-educate and distinguish between symptoms and pathology.
The treatment is based on the application of basic principles which would make possible a better organization in the space, a better gesture activity and better personal relationships. All these factors have to be placed in a project that must be realistic and aim at independence in activities of daily living.
