INFLUENCE OF SOLE ELONGATION THROUGH ELECTROSTIMULATION IN BAROPODOMETRIC CHANGES OF ESSENTIAL CAVE FOOT

The cavus foot is an alteration of the plantar arch of the foot, being this excessively high, without a pathology that justifies it. The weight bearing area on the midfoot is reduced and, therefore, all the weight of the body rests on a smaller plantar surface. This implies that the support surface is put under more load than in normal conditions. The abnormal elevation of the plantar vault and the reduced area of support of the foot cause increased tension in the soft tissues of the sole of the foot that, along the time, will contracture and cause painful symptoms mostly in the forefoot. Electrostimulation with symmetrical biphasic rectangular current supposes an ideal tool for lengthening soft tissues that are shortened or contracture, acting directly on the conjunctive tissue of these structures. The objective of this study is to register the changes in sub capital pressures, before and after applying stretching to the plantar fascia and the intrinsic muscles of the foot, using the symmetrical biphasic rectangular current.
