Abstract

Introduction: the most suitable treatment for biceps braquial tendon torn is surgery with reanchorage of the tendon. The aim of this study is to establish the guideline of physiotherapy treatment after this kind of surgery. Aim: the aim of this study is to establish the guideline of physiotherapy treatment after this kind of surgery. Material and method: we have studied a sample of 7 patients (all them males with ages understood between 35 and 56 years) operated with reinsertion of the tendon distal of the biceps with fixation Endo button between January of 2005 and January of 2007. In six of the cases the break was motivated by labor accidents and in a case for sport accident. No patient presented previous syntomatology to the break. The time lapsed between the lesion and the surgery went smaller to one week in five cases of five weeks in a case and of seven months in another case. In the exploration initial they present a mobility passive limited (mean = 110º of flexion; mean = -35º of extension). The seven individuals are treated by a Physiotherapy protocol. Results: in all the cases a complete functionality was gotten from the elbow to the three months and a reincorporation to the previous activities to the lesion without pain between the three and the four months. The mobility obtained in the affected elbow went similar to the mobility of the other elbow. Discussion and conclusions: the obtained results are similar to those presented by other authors as for the time of recovery and the obtained grade of final functionality.
