Abstract

Objective: in this study we want to point out an application technique of laser therapy, which is specific for injuries treatment and, from our point of view, takes advantage of the whole therapeutic potential of laser therapy in this kind of cases. Materials and methods: for this study, we have used an infrared laser generator by semi conductive diode in the period October 2006 - December 2007, with more than twenty patients with different wound etiologies, at the Physiotherapy Unit of FRATERNIDAD-MUPRESPA Center in Huelva. This study is focused on a sample of 10 random cases, with different kind of wounds. All of the wounds showed a torpid evolution to skin ulcer. Results: in all cases definitive healing up was completed after few laser therapy sessions, regardless of the etiology. In addition, no signs of relapsing were found to happen. Discussions and conclusions: not only the effectiveness of the technique has been proven but also the acceleration of the healing up process has been shown. It is not possible to quantify the amount of energy wasted in treating this kind of wounds, so we draw the attention to the fact that pertinent dosification and application technique must be subject for future studies.
