Abstract

Aim: to find the scientific evidence on the effectiveness of the applied techniques, in the field of medicine and physiotherapy, in the treatment of diaphysis forearm fractures, as well as its prevention. Material and method: scientific articles related to forearm traumatisms have been revised from the database of Medline, PEDRo, ProQuest and Cochrane. The strategy of search has been constituted for the year of publication, key words, language and type of article. Results: they were located from 10 scientific articles of which, the complete text was found in 9 of them. They compare different techniques on the conservative, surgical and physiotherapist field, as well as other aspects like prevention, risk factors and complications (2, 2, 3, 2, 1, 1 article respectively). Statistically significant results were observed, in such a way has been demonstrated the effectiveness of large and short arm’s gypsum (in conservative treatment), of intramedullary pins in both arms and the fixation with sheet in ulna (surgical treatment), of ultra-sonics therapy, shocks waves and mechanotherapy (physiotherapy), of the ingestion of dairy drinks and the practice of physical exercise as a prevention factors, and as risk factors, the yo-yo effect and cola drink. Furthermore, it is set out that nearly forearm fractures mean a higher risk of recidivist fractures. Conclusion: it is quite clear the need of improving research in the treatment of diaphysis forearm fractures, due to techniques applies don’t have solid evidence.
