Abstract

Introduction: the artrogriposis multiple congenital (AMC) is a rare and poorly treated disorder in children's physical therapy room. This study shows the physiotherapy treatment implemented and favorable results obtained, to guide subsequent physical treatments. Case presentation: we describe the pathology and the clinical case of the AMC suffered by a girl aged two months, referred to the Rehabilitation Service Hospital Torrecárdenas, becoming the first known case in Almería which was treated. She starts treatment with a severe limitation of the right shoulder flexion, wrist flexion of the carpus, reducible to - 45 ° of passive extension movement, fingers in extension hardly reducible to flexion. Results: At the present time, the patient has a completely separate motion, manipulate objects with dexterity and is autonomous in its personal care. She is well integrated in her family, school and social environment. Conclusions: the successful outcome of treatment is mainly due to early onset of physiotherapy and the application of hydrotherapy at the beginning of treatment. Physiotherapy techniques used, have yielded results in a total autonomy of the patient on activities of daily living.
