Abstract

Objectives: to compare the group physical therapy and the individual treatment in the tendinopathy of the rotators cuff of shoulder. Material and method: prospective randomized pilot clinical study. In the study were included 27 patients, although 2 were finally excluded. The 25 patients finally included into work, were distributed in 2 groups: Individual treatment (n = 13) of 15 meetings of Cine therapy and electrotherapy combined; and treatment in group (n =12), of 5 meetings «schools of shoulder». All the patients were diagnosed of tendinopathy of the rotator cuff by Re-habilitation’s Department of Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía (Cordoba, Spain) between June and September 2010. The groups were tabulated by age and sex. All patients were evaluated with functional DASH scale (Disabilities of the Shortened Arm, Shoulder and Hand) compared with the initial state. The inclusion’s criteria were tendinitis, tendinosis and impingent syndrome; beings excluded, tendon rupture and glenoid-humeral instability. Results: both treatments showed significant improvement (p < 0.001) with regard to the initial situation, whereas in the comparison between groups not significant differences were found. Conclusions: both treatments induce the same level of improvement and therapeutic efficiency. This would support the use of the physical group therapy in the area of the Public Health, reducing the cost/patient.
