EFFECTIVENESS OF ECCENTRIC EXERCISE IN ACHILLES TENDINOPATHY.A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Abstract
Introduction: Achilles tendinopathy is an Achilles tendon injury usually caused by overexertion. It usually presents pain in the back of the heel and/or lower third of the leg and functional deterioration. Tendinopathy arises when
the tendon is subjected to repeated loads that generate structural changes that it cannot assume. In recent years,
eccentric contractions have been the most common conservative evidence-based treatment in cases of tendinopathy, due to its slowing mechanism. The objective of the review was to evaluate the effectiveness of eccentric exercise in Achilles tendinopathy. Material and method: a systematic review was carried out following the PRISMA
standards of the clinical studies carried out until January 2020 in the databases PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase,
