Abstract

 Occupational Health Services have been changing in the scope of the EU according to the WHO directives. The Occupational Physiotherapist (OP) is a professional that must act into the labor force score. The main aim is to assure the health of the working age population and to support their participant in the labor life. The study's objective is to define the componential framework within this discipline. Material and method: A manual review and a search through different databases in the Internet was carried out using ((Occupational Health Care» and ((Occupational Physiotherapy» as key words. Results: The OP must distinguish aspects such as physical and mental workload, and work ability, having many different subjective and objective methods to assess those concepts. To keep or to improve the individual work ability must be the main goal in order to achieve a general wellbeing feeling of the whole working community. The role of the OP has to be understood from the importance of preventive (health promotion) and Assistencia activities. Conclusions: Being Ergonomics an important competence of the OP, it just represents an area within all the knowledge required to develop this task. All the professional actions must be understood within the interdisciplinary team. Discussion: An ageing workforce needs the intervention of physical therapists aiming healthy lifestyles and a mutual adaptation between worker and working environment.
