After verifying that the midwives usually present vertebral pain in a very elevated percentage, over the remainder of hospital workers, was proposed the suspicion about a possible causal relation with inherent risk factors of this specialty, as soon as the possibility of design an educational program for its prevention. Therefore, it was designed a descriptive, transversal and observational study, which was accomplished over a sample of 49 midwives from 2 hospitals in Seville, was accomplished the quantization of the lesions and an analysis itemized of their work.
The results of the study verify that the attendance tasks, developed by midwives, imply ergonomic risk factors that can have influence on the apparition of muscle-skeletal diseases and its evolution toward the condition of being chronic. Likewise, the knowledge of risk factors that affect to these professionals, has permitted us to stablish the bases to design a preventive program, that will result highly profitable in the prevention of the muscle-skeletal diseases that they suffer.
