BIOMECHANICAL STUDY OF THE UPPER EXTREMITY IN THE HANDBALL GOALKEEPER

Abstract

Introduction: The handball goalkeeper holds a privileged position in the team because his action causes his te¬
m's victory or setback. This fact involves a special physical and phycological duty for goalkeeper.
his duty brings a lot of injuries about the handball goalkeeper.

Objective:  In this article we wanted to study in depth the aspects causing the most frequent injuries which ap¬
ear in the area of handball, particularly in the different situations encountered by the goalkeeper.

Material and method:  The kind of study we tried to achieve is descriptive. The sportsmen we have taken into account are from the province of Seville and the Andalusian teams. They are between 16 and 18 years old. They must have been playing and be members for at least three years and their training level should be a minimum of three days a week. We have utilized and specific assessments for data capture.
Results
 The most common injuries are caused for intercepts in intermediate and low area. An insufficient physical preparation and previous warm-up provoke any greater number of injuries too.
Conclusions
 The handball goalkeeper's sports gesture's specific character provokes the appearance of specific injuries on the higher extremity. It is for this basic to study the higher extremity's biomechanics and a coordinative multidisciplinary team to prevent injuries and relapses.
