Introduction. Physiotherapists should be prepared to act at every level of attention when it comes to health. Fo-llowing indications from the white book, we should advance further, to explore new fields in which we can be an in-fluence, like improving sport performance in healthy subjects. Objectives: the objective of this study is to analyze variations of the diaphragm’s dynamic in soccer players, after applying the stretching technique postural global re-education (PGR). It is also of interest variations of ventilation parameters like forced vital capacity (FVC) and maxi-mum inspiratory and expiratory pressures (MIP and MEP) obtained by means of spirometric analysis before and after using the stretching technique. Material and methods: we carried out a parallel, controlled, randomized, two blinded clinical assays, with 10 subjects (non-probabilistic sampling, convenience sampling) male soccer players that play in the regional second division of the province of Alicante, ages range between 19 and 32. Inclusion approach were: healthy subjects, soccer players, older than 18 years old, without diagnosed respiratory diseases. We carried out a Spirometrics analysis and an inspiratory and expiratory pressures test analysis before and after using the treatment.
Results: the results that were obtained after data analysis describe no significant difference between both groups (p < 0,05). Conclusions: the application of a single session of PGR, using open hip joint angle position with the open-arm variation, to stretch the anterior chain therefore attempting to better the ventilation dynamics, does not pro-duce significant results after testing the forced vital capacity and the maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressures of the subjects. A tendency to improve the maximum inspiratory pressure can be observed although the results are not statistically significant, due to this the study should be attempted with a larger sample of the population.
